WHY should you let CJ get their mitts on your work?

CJ Hauser (they/them) has an MFA and a PhD in Creative Writing. They have published both fiction and nonfiction books with Doubleday and Harper Collins and Viking UK. They have also worked in publishing on the agency side and offered editorial letters to established writers. They teach creative writing workshops at Colgate University.

8 week Prose Workshop - in Brooklyn!

Taking applications for 8-11 people

First class Aug 20th, Last class Oct 8th. (6:30 PM- 8:45 PM weekly)

Location: South Slope TBA

$900 per student (3 sliding scale Pricing spots available)

Everyone will be workshopped once for up to 40 pages of prose (and we will mutually establish a workshop model that feels good for folks). I’ll give mini craft lectures and offer craft exercises as time allows. All students will receive from and offer each other: a short feedback letter. All students will receive from Me: handwritten manuscript marginalia, an editorial letter, and a 30 minute meeting to discuss the feedback on zoom or IRL before/after class.

Manuscript consult - anywhere!

Taking applications for manuscript consults— any prose genre

$2500, All manuscripts up to 300 pages

includes 20 minute pre-feedback meeting to guide CJs feedback, handwritten marginalia, an editorial letter, 40 minute post-feedback meeting with Cj IRL in Brooklyn or on Zoom.

All manuscripts will be returned by the end of September at latest. This is not a revision/editorial service, this is a manuscript consultation! I believe in reading work in progress and responding both by thinking big (about desire and stakes and drive and style) and thinking small (about how craft is at work in the pages so far).
